Hello, Jinpath Sik-Gu, how have you been?

How did you enjoy our recent four-part series, The 9 Core Principles of Natural Eating? Just like constructing a safe, durable building, a strong foundation comes first. I truly hope those articles gave you a solid starting point for your health journey.

Today, we take the next natural step forward. Up to this point, we have built a basic understanding of what natural food and health food really mean. Now, it is time to look at the details: how to choose your daily food, adjust your environment, and shape your habits.

Because these ideas might feel new or a bit detailed, I drew some handwritten notes and diagrams to help make things clear. Take a look at the image as you read through this article. It will make everything much easier to follow.

Let us begin.

The Languages of Nature

There are four main frameworks that explain natural eating:

  1. Macrobiotics
  2. Ayurveda
  3. Yin-Yang & Five Elements
  4. Modern Nutrition Science

Three of these—Macrobiotics, Ayurveda, and Yin-Yang & the Five Elements—share the exact same core concept. They all look at the same big question:
How does the universe connect to our daily physical world?
They simply use different languages to explain it.

Today, we will focus on the framework we encounter most often: Yin-Yang and the Five Elements. Specifically, we will start with Yin-Yang—its basic rules and how it directly affects our food, body, and daily routine.

Have you seen the symbol in the image above?
Even if not this exact drawing, you have likely seen a pattern like it before.
What comes to mind when you look at it?

Today, we will break down what this circle means, how it works, and how to read it—step by step.
Are you ready?
Let us step inside.

The Circle of Life

Our lives move in circles. We wake up in the morning, move through the day, and rest at night. The Earth spins on its axis and orbits around the sun. Nature always moves in cycles.

To understand this, imagine a large circle representing our life.

First, we place an immovable center point right in the middle.

Then, we draw a simple cross (+) through it.

This splits the circle into four key anchor points of the year:

  • A: December 21 (Winter Solstice)
  • B: June 21 (Summer Solstice)
  • C: March 21 (Spring Equinox)
  • D: September 21 (Autumn Equinox)
