The Seasons Within Us
Ⅰ. The Seasons of Our Lives
In traditional Eastern philosophy, there is a very simple and beautiful view of the human body: we are a small universe.
Just as the earth outside our windows experiences the fresh sprout of spring, the intense heat of summer, the quiet shedding of autumn, and the deep rest of winter, our bodies travel through these exact same seasons over the course of a lifetime.
When we are young, we are in the vibrant season of spring and summer, growing rapidly and burning with energy. As the years pass, we naturally step into the cooler, quieter seasons of autumn and winter.
Modern culture often tells us to fight this process.
It tells us to wage a constant war against aging, treating it like an unwanted intruder. However, growing older is a natural, graceful shift in seasons.
It is the body moving from a time of intense heat into a time of deep wisdom, lightness, and reflection.
When we accept this quiet transition and flow with the current of our age, rather than struggling upstream against it, our bodies can find a profound sense of peace.
